Who we are
Give(a)Go is a Dublin-based builder community. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and look after personal information when you use giveago.co, join the community, sponsor an event, or attend a Give(a)Go gathering.

Information we collect
Community signup: name, email address, a short intro, and your LinkedIn profile URL. You may also tell us whether you want email or WhatsApp updates.
Sponsor enquiries: work email and company name.
Event photos and videos: images and recordings taken at workshops, builder weekends, hackathons, and other community events. See the event photography section below.
Website analytics: pages you visit, clicks on join and sponsor actions, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device details, and similar usage data. We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) and Vercel Analytics for this.
We do not ask for payment card details on this site.
How we use it
We use this information to run the community, tell you about events, review sponsor interest, improve the website, and share what happens at events. Signup details may also be used to send a welcome note and, if you opted in, community updates.
We do not sell your personal information.
Legal basis
Where GDPR applies, we rely on: (1) your consent, when you submit a form or opt in to updates; (2) our legitimate interests in running and promoting a community events programme, including event photography, website analytics, and organiser notifications; and (3) a legal obligation, if we must keep or disclose information.
Who we share it with
Organisers see signup and sponsor messages so they can run events (including via Slack). Email updates are sent through EmailOctopus. The site and database are hosted by Vercel and Supabase. Analytics go to PostHog in the EU and Vercel.
Event photos and videos may appear on our website, newsletter, and social channels, and a small selection may be shared with a venue or sponsor for a factual recap of an event they hosted or supported.
Event registration on third-party tools such as Luma is covered by that provider's own privacy notice.
Photos and videos at events
We, and people working with us (for example volunteer photographers, venue partners, or sponsors helping recap an event), may take photographs and video at Give(a)Go events. By attending a public or community event, you should expect that photography and filming may take place.
We use those images to document the community and to promote future events. If you prefer not to appear, tell an organiser when you arrive and we will do our best to avoid featuring you. If you later see an image of yourself that you would like us to stop using, email hello@giveago.co with a link or description. We will remove or stop using it on channels we control, and ask partners to do the same where we reasonably can. We cannot always remove copies that other attendees have already shared from their own devices.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to understand how people use giveago.co. PostHog is configured for the EU. You can block cookies in your browser; some features may then be limited.
How long we keep information
Community and sponsor records are kept for as long as they are useful for running the community or a sponsorship conversation, then deleted or archived. Event photos and videos are kept as a community archive or for promotion until they are no longer needed, or you have asked us to stop using an image of you. Analytics data is kept in line with our analytics providers' retention settings.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw consent, or object to our use of it. Email hello@giveago.co. You can also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.
Children and young people
Give(a)Go events are aimed at adults and students in a professional or educational setting. If you are under 18, or you are a parent or guardian and you do not want a young person's information or images to be used, contact us before the event or as soon as possible afterwards.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change when we do.
